Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine having to learn to read on a computer. Remember when we were kids and we held those new books in our hands and smelled those new book smells? Our students are 4th graders who are committed to improving their reading skills. They are all children of immigrants and/ or students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. They are so excited to be back in school whether it's virtually or in-person.
They are motivated to become better readers and it is such a critical year in their development.
Parents would also love having books to read with their students while their students are learning remotely. These books will make a significant impact on students' investment in and development of reading skills.
My Project
These materials will impact students' learning by giving them books they love to read to read at home! Our school doesn't have a lending library system and many students do not have books at home. Giving them books to take home and read while we learn remote is so important because it gives them something to be proud of and gives them the feeling of reading offline.
Every child deserves a book to call their own!
With these donations, you will plant the seeds for students to seek out books they love, grow their reading habits, and build their own mini-libraries!
