My Students

Being a part of a military community, our school shapes the future of students from all over the country. Some students have attended "the best of the best" schools. Therefore it is a constant challenge to meet many diverse needs and continue to provide academic rigor to our students. Our school is not a Title I school so our teachers are consistently buying resources for our students. However, we cannot meet all of the demands ourselves to continue our pursuit of excellence.

My Project

Our upcoming literacy unit combines two of third graders' favorite things, books and the universe! Students will ask and answer questions using key details from the text, study character traits and motives, analyze text structure, and compare informational texts--all while learning important information about outer space!

Students will work in whole group and small group settings to complete a literacy unit pairing informational and literary texts about space!

The texts are both engaging and challenging for a wide range of readers. Class sets will allow my students to interact with both texts and allow for appropriate differentiation of material and delivery.
