Ms. Bronson from Cincinnati OH is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the tools necessary to record and accurately analyze data from scientific experimental activities. Learning how to use a triple beam balance is an invaluable skill to establish a solid foundation in science techniques.

I teach 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Science. What I love about my students is that they love to learn and have a natural curiosity. In my Science class, I conduct at least one hands-on experience or lab per week with each grade level. My students do a great job of being responsible for and handling our equipment carefully. In using scientific methodology, it's vital to have scientific tools to accurately observe, record and analyze their data.
While the majority of my students are living in economically low environments, as an educator, I endeavor to give them a top notch education and experiences.
Minorities are underrepresented in the sciences. To combat that issue, it is important to develop science skills and abilities of minority children in their early childhood educational experience.
Students will hone their skills as future scientists by having tools that are calibrated and set for them to practice scientific techniques. Students will learn how to measure the mass of different objects while learning the significance of place value and the decimal system. Precision, dexterity, and delicate technique will also be developed learning to use a triple beam balance. Students will also compare and contrast the accuracy of a triple beam balance versus an electronic scale.
Although triple beam balances are directly used for scientific inquiry, the information recorded is utilized to connect science to math, history, writing, and the arts.
The data gathered is used to write, explain, justify, and conclude what was stated in the hypothesis. Often times, the data is also displayed in graphic or chart form.
