Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students, community, and school are poor. Their parents are either out of work or working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Parents don't get involved because they don't have the time, the understanding, or the resources. My school is busy trying to be the educators, health care providers, nutritionist and a surrogate parent. They are limited in the resources they can provide.
Resources for the Arts are limited in my district.
My school needs to focus funding on academics, not the arts; yet, my students still need help getting ushered into the 21st century. Modern day technology is missing in my classroom. My students shouldn't be limited by the elements out of their control.
My Project
My students need feedback. The requested iPad, tripod and microphone will allow my students to view their monologues and scene work immediately. As a theater teacher, my classes typically have 30 or more students. Classes this size make it hard for me to focus and provide feedback to all of my students everyday.
The iPad can be used to record and playback my student's work, so they can observe themselves from an audience's perspective.
A major advantage of this user-friendly technology is that it is ready to record and play back video without any additional software. This type of feedback is immediate and allows students to quickly analyze their own work. Video evidence can be used to illustrate the teacher's lesson points and allow for a deeper level of understanding.
