My students are an amazing group of kids. Our school is in a small section of a small rural school district with 4,400 students in total. The small town is committed to the education of their children! Providing supplies for our students is so important as the majority of students in our school district come from low-income households; the average income in our district is $19,000 a year. All of our students receive free breakfast daily, and many receive free lunch as well. Unfortunately, many of our students come to school without basic classroom supplies, and school budgets for materials are limited.
My students are smart, curious, loving, and engaged; they need to sing, dance, perform, and create!
Musical supplies make such a difference to my students, because it gives them the opportunity to hone individual skills while working towards group success. Music increases literacy, STEM, and math skills! Students who study music do better in school and in life!
As the music teacher in our small town, I will teach every child in our community! The resources in this project will impact literally every child in our town for years to come!
My Project
My students need art supplies! In our school, we have students who are excited about learning in art! Unfortunately, we lack supplies to learn with.
My students deserve to feel like real artists and need materials to do so!
With a few gallons of paint, my students will create paintings like the most famous artists. For my students to practice their skills, they will also need canvas and roll paper.
While my younger students learn to use their art tools, they create multiple creative collages and crafts using liquid glue, glue sticks, colored pencils and crayons. They spend so much time using hand held sharpeners that they lose a lot of valuable art time! An electric pencil sharpener would bring back priceless instructional time. Less time sharpening pencils means more time sharpening their art skills!
These supplies would make a difference in my Title One classroom. We are excited to use these supplies for cross-curricular instruction, such as STEM, Music, and History as well as art! Thank you for considering our project!
