My Students
I teach at a low income school in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This will be my 3rd year teaching at this school, and my 5th year overall. In my estimation, my school has one of the most diverse populations in the state, with many different spoken languages.
I teach at a school in which the students appreciate absolutely everything.
From the little things including lucky charms on St. Patrick's day to decorating pumpkins during Halloween. We certainly have an appreciative bunch of students.
My Project
I would love to have another Chromebook for our classroom. We use our laptops for a variety of reasons. During our Daily 5 reading centers we use online resources such as Get Epic, Just Read Books Aloud, IXL, and Imagine Learning. During our Daily 3 math centers, we use our laptops to access IXL, Dreambox, SumDog, and Splashmath.
Using technology is a hot commodity in my classroom.
My students are always pushing and challenging each other to become better readers and mathematicians. They are in constant (friendly) competitions to see who can attain the highest Imagine Learning levels, acquire the most AR points (as a class, we have accumulated over 1,000 with an end of the year goal of 2,000!), or answer the most equations on SumDog and IXL.
It's my goal to one day have enough technology for each student in my classroom. One day at a time, we are preparing every student for 21st century learning!
