Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a border town inner city school in Arizona where 93% of our students are free/reduced lunches. We are a Title I, "C" graded Kindergarten through Eighth elementary school. The majority of our students are English Language Learners and come from single parent homes.
This year the Technology Club students are learning how to fix computers and create robots in their STEM lessons.
We need a soldering iron, anti-static pad, and grounding workstations. My technology club is excited to begin their new concept in computer science.
My Project
Our Technology Club has been fast at work learning all about computers and their components. Unfortunately, they have only learned the material, and have not experienced the hands on approach.
By sponsoring my project, my students learn not only the content surrounding their STEM projects, but also important life skills such as problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, communication, time management, and responsibility.
Studies have shown that project-based learning is a teaching approach that motivates and inspires students to learn and helps them to become self-directed learners over time. My students have been learning so much thus far and will continue to grow thanks to you!
