Ms. Ruffer from Grand Blanc MI is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need three Chromebooks.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
A typical day in our classroom is very busy. We are jam packed with math, guided reading, reading, writing, guided math, and then either music or PE. My students are awesome and have such great attitudes even though home lives are hard. We really work on teaching the whole child.
My students are great!
A lot of my students work really hard academically and are still very below grade level. My students are mostly from a very rough area. Our school really does have a great welcoming environment. My students are second graders who really like to do creative things. They have quite the imagination! They are full of humor and are so very smart. Some just need a bit more help to be on grade level. The goal is to have my students not only ready for third grade but ready for their future.
I know that asking for 3 computers seems a bit steep, but my classroom does not have other technology outside of a smartboard. The computer lab for the whole school (k-8) has less than 25 laptops. The majority of the laptops have multiple missing keys. Most classrooms have at least one computer, our classroom has none. These chromebooks could be using for reading, math practice, fluency practice, letter sounds, and so many more things. We would use them EVERYDAY!
My students would be using these chromebooks everyday.
My students would be using the computers to improve reading, math, grammar, and provide an opportunity to type stories for students who struggle with handwriting. Technology is our future and unfortunately my students do not get a lot of exposure of helpful technology on an individual basis. My students already come from a disadvantaged place so my job is to provide them with opportunities for success.
