This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are lively, busy, creative, and love to come to school. Even though they are from an area in Michigan that does not offer many opportunities, they love to come to school. Many receive free or reduced-price lunch. Day to day life is challenging for them. Come sunshine, rain, sleet, or snow, they show up and my classroom is full.
My students are six and seven years old and learn best through hands-on learning.
They love to absorb knowledge, whether it's from a chalkboard or technology. They thrive on learning when they are engaged and have numerous opportunities in school that they do not have at home. Unfortunately, they are home, so let's bring these opportunities to them.
My Project
Students learn better when they can touch, manipulate, and visualize all together. Concepts and ideas become something our students can identify with. By giving them alphabet letters to make words and journals to write them in will advance the learning at home. Using the alphabet letters holds the student's attention. With alphabet letters, concepts are no longer abstract or difficult to understand. The student will be able to letters to make words and write words to combine them into sentences and then illustrate them in their journal. The connection Who doesn't like a little snack while working?
