I teach fifth grade at a K-8 elementary school in the Sierra Nevada foothills. My students are growing up together in a small, tight-knit community school. I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom, but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic and innovative despite our low socioeconomic and Title I status. They are enjoying collaborative, hands-on projects and working together to accomplish a goal.
This is my second year teaching fifth grade.
I'm excited to have students participate in their growth and education throughout the year.
My Project
My students love creating, especially for others. That is why this holiday season, they will be making succulent pots as holiday gifts for their families.
It is very rewarding to give to others during the holidays.
My students need terracotta pots, succulents, and soil to create these gifts. This is a great opportunity to teach my students about how to think about others and to give to people that love them unconditionally. They will enjoy decorating the terracotta pot and personalizing them for their loved one.
I am also requesting magnetic bookmarks, so I can treat my students to a special gift before our winter break.
