My Project
Children need opportunities to use their imagination and express their feelings through play. Painting at an art easel allows for creativity and independent thinking. Working at an easel builds muscle groups that are essential for kids as they begin to develop writing skills. The large motions and working with arms extended, build up these muscles and prepare them for smaller fine motor skills and writing.
Using blocks and other building materials allow for problem solving, logical thinking and social skills development.
Block play encourages children to build creative designs which helps develop Math skills. Children can follow their own plan, or they can use teamwork to create a masterpiece. Important math concepts and skills are practiced and strengthened through block play, including length, measurement, comparison, number, estimation, symmetry, and balance. Hand eye coordination as well as fine motor skill development is enhanced through block play as well.
New headphones are essential for our computer and reading/listening center. Listening to stories helps build vocabulary, model fluency, develop listening skills and foster independence. Children can respond to stories with writing and pictures to develop retelling and story elements.
