My students need an iPad to explore literacy and math skills.

My students are the reason I love teaching as much as I do. They are all special and unique in their own ways. All of my students qualify for free lunch due to their families' low income. They come from poverty-stricken homes and neighborhoods. Every day that they come to school, it is important that they have time and experiences during school to put behind the troubles that they may face at home or in their communities. Many of them come from families that are or have recently been homeless.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire" William Butler Yeats.
This is a Title I school that serves students that qualify for pre-K under circumstances such as low-income. My one wish is that I could change all of their situations and circumstances. As that is not possible, all I can do is make sure that the moment they step into my classroom, I am able to empower them with knowledge so that one day they will be able to build a future for themselves.
My students love to use technology in the classroom. They use it to explore educational applications, draw pictures, create stories, learn how to count and more. Unfortunately there is only one iPad for the entire class to share. Due to the class having to share an iPad many students do not always get an opportunity often to utilize it.
Having more iPad's in the classroom would allow my students ample opportunity to learn and grow.
There are many applications that greatly increase the learning and developmental skills of students while also teaching that learning can be fun. Technology is the way of the future and I want them to go to kindergarten knowing how to appropriately use technology since many come from low income families and may not have technology at home.
