Every morning we start off our day by remembering the rules in our building which are being respectful, responsible, and safe. The students recognize that by following these three rules, they will have a great day!
My school rocks!
We have awesome students, wonderful administrators, dedicated teachers and devoted support staff! The school environment is both warm and inviting for staff, students, parents, and visitors. I couldn't ask for a better place to work! Currently, I have 26 students in my first grade classroom, which is the largest class I have had since I began teaching. The students are enthusiastic and excited to learn each and every day. They want to share stories and make connections with everyone around them. The students in my building range from kindergarten to fourth grade. My ultimate goal is to provide my students with an authentic learning environment, where they are free to explore,ask questions, and utilize technology daily.
My Project
If my students have access to chrome books in the classroom, it will provide them additional time to work with technology. Presently, the students in my class are allotted 30 minutes of time weekly in the computer lab. I have 2 computers in my classroom, but only one of them is equipped for students to use. It is difficult to share one computer between 26 students. If I have a small set of chrome books, I will be able to provide small group instruction in all areas of the curriculum. I see it useful in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Students will be able to use chrome books to research various topics and it will help them meet common core state standards in technology. I will also have the ability to use the chrome books to provide additional resources to struggling students. We purchased a program in our district called RAZ Kids in which the students can read books on the computer. This would be another benefit to having chrome books available in the classroom.
Chrome books will help me to provide my students with the resources necessary to teach them about technology.
The world is changing and students need to learn how to use technology safely. They also need to learn how to research topics and validate the information they find. Chrome books can be used in every aspect of my curriculum. Technology is engaging for students and I also believe that through the use of teaching with chrome books, that it will increase their motivation for learning.
