This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school in Virginia. That means many of them come from single-family, low-income homes, where parents are working multiple jobs. There is limited access to materials at home, creating a crucial need for it in the classroom.
In my classroom, my goal is to replicate the ever-changing world in which my students live.
In order to achieve this goal, for my current and future students, it is essential to have easy access to materials beginning with primary grades.
My Project
Help give my students the opportunity to create, build, and problem solve with LEGOs. We have some LEGOs in our classroom and the students love to create things. Many of my students love to create everyday things like cars and robots. They are very proud of their creations!
Using LEGOs in the classroom also encourages collaboration and teamwork.
LEGOs can also be used in every subject I teach. LEGOs can recreate setting from stories we read, for math legos can be used for non-standard measurement, counting, and fractions, in science to teach force and motion, and in social studies they can be used to replicate important symbols.
