My students are members of an urban community in Connecticut. Our school is a bilingual center, meaning some students receive instruction in both English and Spanish. This is an option for newly immigrated Spanish-speaking students or students who speak Spanish as their first language. Over 90% of our students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch.
I teach an amazing group of kindergarteners, ranging in age from 4-6, who come to school every day eager to learn.
They are kind, hard-working and brilliant little whirlwinds who manage to teach me something new each day and inspire me to be a better person!
We have some amazing software available at our school that can individualize instruction for each child. The only problem is that it’s too difficult for their tiny hands to navigate using the traditional desktop and mouse.
We need 2 iPads to create a learning center where students can work at their individual level to increase their early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.
These iPads will also help to transform my little learners into authors of both fiction and nonfiction as they create original works and share them with their friends and family.
Please help me engage my students and encourage their skills as independent learners.
