Help me give my students materials and kits to tinker and create in our classroom STEM MakerSpace. The littleBits code kit was high on the student wish list.
I have the privilege of being the teacher of 48 amazing sixth-grade students. My students are broken up into two classes with 24 students in each class. I teach the math and science curriculum, while my wonderful teaching partner covers the English Language Arts and Social Studies. We are part of a small, close knit rural community in Northern Minnesota, but unfortunately many of my students come from low-income households.
My students are passionate about the outdoors and hands-on projects.
My goal is to make learning fun, challenging, and relevant to their interests and lives outside of school. I hope to inspire them to become life-long learners who contribute in a positive way to their community.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will help middle school students bring their ideas and creations to life. They will use the Legos and wooden block sets to build things such as bridges, vehicles, and towering structures of their own design. The coding and marble kits will allow students to practice essential critical thinking and problem solving skills. These products were chosen by the students, and would not be possible without your generosity.
“Every great advance in science has issued from a new audacity of imagination.” – John Dewey, American philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer.
The students are already completing blueprint ideas for their creations. They are very excited to begin tinkering and building.
