Help me give my students STEM materials such as LEGO classic bricks, Brain Blox Wooden Building Blocks for Kids and MIBOTE Magnetic Building Blocks for hands-on learning that's fun!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a kindergarten teacher in a Title I school with many of the students coming from low-income households, I am blown away by the persistence of the students I teach. Some of us will never experience the things these students deal with on a daily basis in their home lives. Even though some of the situations they face at home are heartbreaking, they still manage to come to school every morning with a smile on their faces.
My students are AMAZING!
I may not be able to control want happens in their lives outside of school, but I try to keep as much normality and fun in our classroom as possible. I want my students to enjoy coming to school. In addition to gaining a great foundation of basic skills that will be used later in their school lives, I want them to know they are important. They are capable of doing extraordinary things. My students prove that each and every day as I watch them learning and growing.
In order for the students of today to be successful in the future, they need to develop critical thinking skills. They will need a great imagination and be able to collaborate to come up with innovative solutions. I would like to start a makerspace area in our classroom, using STEM materials such as LEGO classic bricks, Brain Blox Wooden Building Blocks for Kids and MIBOTE Magnetic Building Blocks, where my students can begin to use those skills even at a young age by creating and designing while they just think they are having fun.
A makerspace area with Lego Building Blocks, VIAHART Brain Flake Interlocking Discs, MIBOTE Magnetic Building Blocks and Brain Blox Wooden Building Blocks will allow my students to participate in hands-on activities that are engaging.
It will appeal to many interests and give the students an opportunity to use problem-solving skills. The makerspace items can be used for early finishers or during center time. Students will be able to explore the items to choose what they would like to learn, build, or create.
