Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are your typical 5 and 6 year olds who are curious and eager to participate in activities. They enjoy activities that include games, manipulatives and opportunities to talk and play. Supplying them with materials during centers that foster their interest allows them to engage and explore with their peers.
My students are energetic, curious, love talking and playing.
The activities they engage in during center time help them build relationships, learn social skills like taking turns; learn self regulation skills, and allows them to enjoy learning through play.
My Project
In this project, I intend for my students to engage in STEM activities that allows them to explore and discover. I chose a variety of high-quality building and tinkering materials that include a Kid K'nex Building set, Flexiblocks building set and a Tumble Tree Building set.
Allowing children to build aides in the development of problem solving, critical thinking and social skills.
Through building and tinkering, I can allow students to use their imagination, explore different ways to improve on structures and apply content knowledge learned in STEM activities.
As students play, they will have opportunity to engage in activity that is fun, but still promotes learning and the development of important skills.
