Timers for Independent Learning

My students need timers to be able to time themselves in reading and math.

We are a PK-3 school with over 600 students. Our school population has changed tremendously since Hurricane Katrina. I teach a self-contained inclusion class of twenty third graders.

We have several times during the day where the students are learning independently while I am working with small groups of students. During reading, the students are in charge of reading silently or with a buddy for 30 minutes. They also need to practice reading for 1 minute increments to help them increase their words per minute. During math centers the children practice their math skills for a minute or two. They are now using the classroom clock to time themselves which is not very exact.

The digital bookmarks would really make it easy for the children to work independently as they read or work on improving their math facts because they would not have to worry about checking their time every little bit. The Mark-My-Time bookmarkers would keep track of their time as well as make a handy bookmarker.

Your donation will help these third grade students become more successful in math and reading. These timers will help students read more words per minute and reach their reading goal each day. If they can master their math facts, they will have more time to spend on the other parts of the math problems.
