This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse, creative, resilient, and have so much potential to learn. My school is a Title I school that has many families who are considered socio-economically disadvantaged, a high percentage of English language learners, a devoted hardworking staff, and students with the most heart and character. I have been teaching here for 15 years and find it a privilege to do a job that I love!

My Project

During distance learning, students have learning to do synchronously (with me, the teacher) and asynchronously (independent practice by themselves). Often students will have to leave a meeting to work independently, while I work with another small group of students, but they are having challenges in knowing when to rejoin for more instruction. These cute and efficient apple-shaped kitchen timers will help students manage their time and know when to rejoin our class meetings for more instruction. Parents will also be grateful because this will help students to be more independent and responsible for their distance learning.
