This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a physics teacher in a high poverty region in Virginia. I teach excellent students that any teacher would dream of having.

In my classes we do lots of experiments and demonstrations, but I'm having trouble because I only have three stopwatches that currently work and they are unreliable. I had a few more earlier this year, but they are old and broke during labs.

My students need 15 simple stopwatches to perform physics experiments. This will greatly benefit my students, as currently we have large groups. I have up to thirty kids in some of my physics classes.

These are very bright, college-bound students, and I cannot provide them with the supplies they need for simple, typical physics labs. You will make it possible for my students to have smaller lab groups, and therefore actually do the hands-on activities themselves that greatly enrich a class like physics.
