I teach an inquisitive, motivated group of advanced fourth graders who learn by questioning and creating. Design and innovation are integrated into all we do, and the goal is to provide hands-on experiences so that learning comes to life. Ours is a collaborative classroom where students work together to make sense of the world around them. Through exploration and problem solving, students are better able to understand and make a difference in the world they live in. Learning in our class is an adventure!
My Project
STEAM learning changes the classroom. Today it is integrated into every curricular area. To best support my students in their continuing STEAM journey, I am requesting a variety of supplies. The first item is the Tinkering Labs Electric Motors Catalyst kits.
With these kits students will have access to electronic components, woodworking components, hardware, connectors, and tools and supplies allowing them to engineer and build all that they can imagine.
With the goal of developing my students' growth mindsets, these kits will provide opportunities to develop perseverance and problem solving skills. In addition, students will have the chance to master many challenges presented in the Tinkering kits such as creating vehicles with suspension systems and inventing robots that move without wheels to name a few. This will coincide with our study of electricity and structures in science. I am also requesting a cover case for our Sphero and Legos to complement our Tinkering Lab creations.
How exciting it will be to see students putting their STEAM skills to use in such fun and creative ways while developing greater perseverance and problem solving skills.
