I need Understanding Texts & Readers: Responsive Comprehension Instruction with Leveled Texts to help learn how to make my reading lessons effective to help my readers grow.
I have the privilege of working with some of the most caring, bright, funny, clever and talented kids! They value education and LOVE to learn new information. They have curiosity that is insatiable and their enthusiasm is contagious! The district that I teach in is an urban district in Ohio. We have hard-working parents. We have a free and reduced lunch percentage greater than 60%. The boys and girls come from homes where parents spend long hours away to provide for their families. We have a high rate of bi-lingual students. These boys and girls have learned that going above and beyond and working hard will be the only way they can reach their goals.
My Project
These professional texts will be used to further my ability to instruct readers and writers. Also, as a literacy coach these texts will allow me to help better understand how to reach struggling readers and then pass this information on to my intermediate team.
Understanding Texts & Readers: Responsive Comprehension Instruction with Leveled Texts will allow me to strengthen my ability to pick an appropriately leveled text for small group that will help stretch the students' thinking and demonstrate skill mastery.
All of the materials listed will allow me to use the data I have on my students to make informed decisions that will make them an overall better reader and writer.
