Help me give my students the option to learn anywhere in their classroom with flexible seating, and by storing learning tools in an easy to access space. These jellyfish seats and storage bench will help me achieve that!
My students are amazing, smart, hard working youngsters with special education needs.
Each of them with a different challenge they face each day; reading, writing, social skills, or hardships from home, and regardless they come to school each day ready and excited to take on whatever I have to offer them.
But in a world of technology, I feel that they deserve more.
They each require unique academic instruction, with innovative, hands on learning. They are not just test scores and IEP’s. They are kids who will some day be really successful adults with the right tools. They absolutely deserve technology and to be heard and to explore. I need to help prepare them to take on the world and achieve their dreams.
This is my first year teaching but this is such a special group. They are funny, have great ideas, work so hard, and take pride on their work. They help each other, support each other, and they love to sing and dance. They make even the hard days, fun days.
My Project
Some ways I will use these flexible seats in the classroom is by allowing student the choice of where to work. For example. We are integrating more coding into our curriculum and students will be able to grab a partner and work where they feel comfortable in the classroom. As well as giving them the sensory input that the students need. The storage under the benches will allow for storage of steam marerials at a height that students can access it quickly without teacher assistances. It also allows them to take these items out during their recess time.
Students will be able to take more responsibility for their own learning and develop a higher interest in their curriculum
