Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are English learners from a low socio-economic background. Many of them go home to families that are very busy from working several jobs to make ends meet. They don't always get an opportunity to tell about their day or what they would like to do.
My students are in need of art materials such as Crayola Model Magic clay, art tissue paper and watercolor refills to continue to be able to express themselves artistically.
I have many English learners who are still in the beginning stages of learning the language. They struggle through the day be it reading, writing, math, but when we get to art, they come alive! Finally, this is something they can do!
My Project
The art supplies that I am requesting will help my students to express themselves in other ways than speaking. My students will be able to show what they have learned about insects by using the Crayola model magic to make model insects and label them with the green pipe cleaners. The kids can then use the sharpies to color their creatures and make them look more lifelike. I'm also excited about the colored pencil packs and the watercolor refills as the packages that we have have been loved dearly and are ready to take a rest. I know my students will be excited to have all the materials that they need ready and new!
