This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My children are capable of taking over the world. They are willing to learn, however there are many gaps due to lack of experience and finance. Our school is a Title I school located in an economically disadvantaged area of South Florida in which 80% of the students receive free breakfast/lunch.
My 3rd grade students crave knowledge, they are constantly questioning the world around them.
In order for my students to learn about the world around them they need to be exposed to current events and world news. Time for Kids is such a great resource for my students to have as a learning tool.
My Project
My students have limited resources at home and aren't exposed to real world topics. They do not have books, newspapers or computers at home to keep them abreast of current world topics. If each child was given a subscription to Time for Kids they would have the opportunity to learn about current events and have prior knowledge they need to succeed in life and in school. My children are not exposed to learning enough at home and this would give them the opportunity to take their knowledge to a higher level.
With your help my students can begin a journey to learn about their world and how fun reading can be.
Please help my students get this amazing resource that will help them see the world around them!
