My Students
My third-grade students are all learning to be bilingual English/Spanish speakers. These students are all eager to learn. I teach in the only school in Utah that is completely dual immersion from first grade through fifth grade. This means there is no lottery if students attend this school; they all spend half of their day in English and half in a Spanish speaking class. It is also a Title 1 school with a very diverse student population. Many students receive free and reduced-price meals. Some also are sent home each weekend with a supply of food. I believe my students deserve nothing but the best!
My Project
My 3rd bilingual students will have weekly access to current events both digitally and in hand. I teach in a very diverse community. I believe teaching in a small town students often live in a "bubble" If my students have weekly access to Time 4 Kids it will give them opportunity to see and read about other parts of the country and world by reading nonfiction text.
I have 50% of the student population comes from a low income family.
These students in particular need to have access other positive nonfiction readability text. I can not wait to see their smiles when they realize that these Time 4 Kids were donated to them to read and use weekly!
