Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our favorite chant is, "In our class we try and try again!"
My students come from a high poverty school district where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
The challenges that face them at home are almost insurmountable. Curious, excited, and willing to work hard, my students love coming to school! They thrive in a creative environment where they help set their learning goals and are provided with multiple ways to learn and solve problems. Hard work is rewarded and relationships are built and nourished. My hope is to instill in each student a lifelong love of learning!
My Project
Time magazine will enhance my students reading skills by providing literacy both digitally and in print. I will use the magazine in the classroom as a group read, introducing concepts of print, and making connections between text and pictures. During small group students will read to each other and have conversations about current events. I will be able to send the magazines home making a much needed connection between home and school.
My students will gain a broader perspective of the world through both digital and print Time magazine!
Digital Time will allow my students to interact with the text, answer questions, and become excited about technology. Thank you so much for enhancing the literacy skills of my students! Together we can !
