My students need to learn skills through a variety of teaching styles and need different ways to be active, one way they can achieve this is through technology such as the DR.J Projector.
I have some great classes with students who have different personalities and learning styles. The school is comprised of approximately 95% African American students. Before I started the majority of the students were not familiar with games other than basketball and games that do not involve equipment.
Most students enjoy our fitness unit and with more equipment we can start getting all students involved.
With the use of new equipment we can differentiate between diverse learners in P.E. to ensure all students participate. They are great kids and are eager to become healthier and more fit individuals that lead full active lives.
My Project
Students should have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and sports that are not normally available to them through physical education. I have only been able to teach volleyball as their "Net" skill and would really like to be able to integrate badminton and pickle ball into the curriculum as well. By having a net available for students to use I can help students in Pre-K start to learn hand eye coordination all the way until 8th grade and competition starts become a focus with the sport.
I believe that working on hand eye coordination and teaching our young students how to cross over planes on the body will help develop brain function that is used when reading.
I would like to have juggling scarves for the students to start teaching them how to cross those planes. These can also be used for different educational and creative games that involves movement and skill development.
Technology is a irreplaceable tool used to assist in learning and development. I can use the DR.J projector for numerous things from warm up and relaxing videos from GONOODLE. I can also use this to provide students examples of certain skills they are learning in a variety of lessons. I also rely on students being able to see what they are learning when in the classroom for Health Education. I could use more own Amazon Fire stick to help assist in certain educational opportunities that are crucial for learning.
