I have curious, energetic, creative, inspiring, and eager-to-learn kindergarten students in my classroom each year. I lead an organized, focused and differentiated learning environment with access to materials that address each need among various subject disciplines.
At the end of each year, and continuously throughout their educational journey, I want my students to be confident learners, seekers of knowledge and great citizens for our school, their families and the community around us.
I work diligently for each student to be challenged daily and be the best that they can be, where he or she is at, in their kindergarten journey and beyond.
I have 19 full-time kindergarten students and 2 additional developmental students that "push-in" for fifty percent of the day in the school year 2019-2020.
They all arrive with a variety of interests, talents, backgrounds and specific emotional and physical needs. All my students need fluid transitions, a prepared, print-rich, and organized environment, sensory breaks and consistent encouragement to keep them focused and ready for each task ahead. My school is an amazing family of strong leaders and teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.
My Project
These Osmo kits include tangrams, numbers, dice and letter tiles that are "sensed" by a mirror that is set on top of an iPad. The apps are extremely engaging and the students are so excited when they pass levels and collaborate with each other to solve a problem or complete a missing tile sequence. This is a wonderful literacy center activity that I like to have available and rotating all year long.
Having additional sets of this kit will allow more of my students to explore science, math, art and early reading skills through the five games included in this "Genius" set.
These are called "Smart Sets" because the device that you connect to an iPad senses if the students place the correct tile/answer in front of the screen. The students then can celebrate or stop and self-correct. The programs adapt to various skills and become more and more challenging. I love having activities like this that increase engagement and are hands-on for an ideal learning experience for my early childhood students.
