Some of my students are experiencing school for the first time as Kindergarteners. Others have had a bit of exposure through daycare or preschool. Either way, they are excited to begin their first year as official students at an elementary school.
My students come to school ready to learn!
As my students learn, we are working on collaboration, creativity, and citizenship. This is done on their level using different resources and manipulatives to help them become successful Kindergarteners and citizens of our school.
My Project
As I get ready for the new school year, I am already thinking of ways to organize my classroom into a colorful environment that welcomes my new little Kindergarteners. I think the Carson Dellosa borders and posters will definitely do that!!
Besides decorating my classroom, I also plan on organizing their reading folders.
Students use these folders at school and at home. The folders hold student's sight word cards for them to practice and the binder pouches will be perfect to hold those. Students also have materials inside that we use during our one-on-one conferencing when learning how to read. These materials can be stored safely in the big plastic envelopes that I am requesting. I believe having these two new items in their reading folders will make things much easier to find and stay organized throughout the school year.
I am also trying to organize their writing journals by giving them a space to not only write like a "4 Star Writer" but also be artistic and have space to draw to match their sentence. The composition books that I have found are perfect for this reason!
