"Wisdom Begins in Wonder". - Socrates. I teach second grade and I have a classroom full of precious students who love to learn. I want to help provide them with the opportunity to turn their wonder into wisdom.
Being a Title I school means that most of our students face economic disadvantages.
Due to these disadvantage, many of my students have limited opportunities and experiences outside of the classroom. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Many are learning English as a second language. Each student is unique in their own way and I strive to meet those individual needs every day. My challenge is to encourage and instill in each child the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
My Project
Students will use the iPad for independent and cooperative learning. In science, students will be able to use a QR reader and scan QR codes to conduct research on a variety of topics. They will also use this technology to access apps for enhancing hands-on learning opportunities. In math, students will be able to use sites that will help develop their fluency in math facts and other concepts. In reading, this tool will be helpful in building their reading fluency and comprehension skills. The possibilities for the use of an iPad in the classroom to support instruction are limitless.
An iPad in my classroom will allow my students to venture outside the four walls of our room.
It will take them places that many will never be able to experience. This device will be an additional piece of different technology that they will be able to use. Therefore, gaining that 21st century technology skill.
