Our rural school is a K-12 school. Our elementary school is K-3, serving about 300 students. This year I am moving up to third grade from kindergarten. With this move, my third graders' needs are very different from the needs of the kindergarten students in my former classes. I would like to be able to provide these students with a learning environment that meets these new needs and standards.

My students are eager for new experiences and chances to explore the world around them. Whether it be through using tablets, performing science experiments, or reading about faraway places, I want to provide them with these opportunities in any way I can. This DonorsChoose.org project will help me make this year as successful as I can.
My Project
Our social studies curriculum is over 15 years old. My students deserve access to current events, interesting articles on other cultures, and national or world issues and events.
The Time For Kids Subscription will help us engage in current events, other cultures, and learn about the world around us.
The magazines have interesting, short articles on a variety of current events, leaders, and other engaging topics. I think these would help my students engage in interesting discussions, also leading into possible community service projects and personalized learning topics. I want to get my students excited about social studies! I do not want to hand them a boring outdated textbook. Let’s make learning interesting and fun!
