This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am special education teacher in a high-need high school where I teach in a self-contained setting, grades 9-12. I teach English Language Arts. My incredible students have learning disabilities and emotional disturbances that hold them back in the classroom.
My students are amazing teenagers, and they come from so many different backgrounds and have a whole range of learning styles. The special education department often gets the least up-to-date and relevant resources! Meanwhile, they are the ones that need to be engaged, stimulated, and challenged the most!
I desperately want to introduce my students to the world of technology!! They must be introduced to the Internet and computer programs that can help them learn visually, and awaken their senses! They need to feel like we care enough about them to give them high quality equipment to work with. Therefore, I am asking for a portable projector that I can use to expose my students to the Internet, computer learning aids, and everything else that one can gain from a computer! Students with disabilities need a variety of resources to help them learn in their own way! Each student has a completely different way of learning. Some are visual learners, while others work best by hearing. I am always looking for ways to reach each and every student.
I have been using everything I could from my own home, including my personal laptop. It would be so meaningful for me and for my students if you gave us the gift of a projector. You would give them the opportunity to see how much more wonderful learning can be, and give me the opportunity to enrich my lessons, and give them the best education I can.
THANK YOU, so much, in advance.
