Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth grade students walk into the classroom every day so eager to learn. They all try their very best to succeed; however, other things can get in their way.
All my students deserve the chance to receive a proper education with the materials needed in front of them.
Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and 100% of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many are English language learners, and some have come to the US for a better education and life. But still, these lovely fourth grade students come to school with smiles on their faces regardless of what is happening in their lives.
My Project
All students deserve access to wonderful books. An updated fourth grade library will spark more interest in my students to read to succeed. My students need new high interest, engaging books to spark their love for reading, including books from the Magic Tree House, Boxcar Children, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
Unfortunately, many of my students have not yet discovered a love of learning and have little access to great books or lack the resources at home to support the love to read.
My school desperately lacks resources and is only able to provide a few new books to our classroom libraries each year. These books get snatched up, then lost or destroyed. Students who excel at reading become more successful in life. Contributing to my classroom library will put my students on the path to success.
