My students need subscriptions to TIME for Kids, a reliable resource to understand events that are occurring in the United States and around the world.
As a gifted and talented facilitator, I help students from a variety of backgrounds and situations. "GT" students are a group of kids that have a plethora of intellectual and affective needs. My students are extremely interested in solving real world issues. They represent a wide variety of socioeconomic levels and racial/cultural diversity. They especially enjoy working in cooperative groups. The students need to see real world current events, to better understand what is occurring around the world. The students want to know what is happening, and by using current events magazines, students can gain a better understanding of real world problems, and seek to find answers to the problems.
My Project
By reading Time for Kids, students will have access to information about current events from around the US, and around the world. The students will be able to read about these events, and discuss the issues around the events. By gaining a better understanding of current events, this allows the students to become more knowledgeable about issues their families my face, or issues that others face, that they did not realize occur. These students can then share what they have read with others to help others become more knowledgeable about real world events that are occurring. Reading and sharing current events with others helps students become more productive citizens in the future.
