This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, wide-eyed learners, but unfortunately we are in a low income neighborhood where students don't always get the opportunities that they deserve. They are eager to learn, but often come to school without proper supplies.

Students need activities at their own learning level.

It is important to reinforce and enrich students in order for lifetime learning to occur. My students are well-behaved third graders who always want to do their best.

Learning is important to my students so they can succeed in the world. I know that someday they will be productive citizens.

My Project

I would like a weekly subscription to Time for Kids so my students can keep up to date on current events. I will have two Social Studies classes this fall and this supplement would be very useful to teach current events.

Time for Kids is an excellent tool for students to learn what is going on in their country and around the world.

I would use this magazine all week not only for current events, but for reading comprehension and fluency.

Time for Kids is written on a 3rd grade level so students will have an understanding of the concepts in the news. It will also help the students form opinions and help them write articles or do further research on topics presented.
