Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ELD, meaning that English is a second language for all of them. I teach at a Title I school where every child qualifies for the free lunch program.

My students love to learn and want so badly to been seen as the same as every other child at the school.

They love to use math tools, create their own stories and share their learning with others. My students have been apart of the ELD program for their entire school careers, my goal is to get them reading, writing and learning actively everyday. However that has been difficult for them due to the extended amount of time they have spent feeling less than the rest of the students their age.

My Project

Seeking knowledge is the basis of my classroom philosophy, I hope to create a space for students to want to absorb knowledge like a sponge and share it with one another to foster growth, kindness and to build each other up. Becoming a well rounded informed student for their future and today. By having access to current events student can better prepare themselves for the future. I want my student to take what they learn in my classroom and apply it to their future either in enducation or in the real world. I believe having access to knowledge is the first step.
