My second grade classroom is full of innovative thinkers, with a passion for learning. Each morning, they greet me with either a hand-shake, side-hug, or high-five and a big smile on their face. They are excited to see their "day-time family", as they call it. The students are always eager to read their agenda during Town Hall meetings to see what they will be learning for the day.
My students are critical thinkers and passionate about exploring new things.
They enjoy learning through the process of inquiry and eagerly seek engaging, hands-on activities. When they put their thinking caps on, it amazes me what they discover and create!
My Project
The TIME For Kids magazines will help enhance the print-rich environment that I strive to create for my classroom. The Time For Kids magazines will be used during multiple parts of the day and will expose my students to current events through authentic journalism.
My students will use the TIME For Kids magazines during our reading block to build informational-reading skills.
The magazines will also be used during social studies to help students better understand our complex world and become informed and active citizens. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
As the teacher, I have done extensive research and reading on Using Different Types of Texts for Effective Reading Instruction in the primary grades. Yet, I truly need your support to make this a reality. Your kind and generous donation will be greatly appreciated!
