STEM in elementary grades opens the door for our low-income students to become tomorrow’s leaders. Young children with a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will go on to play an integral role in our nation’s global competitiveness and economic stability. I want to foster critical thinking through problem solving in my classroom and provide students with an academic edge.
Students learn science concepts and comprehend text best while engaging in authentic inquiry experiences combined with reading, writing, and verbal communication.
While many students learn science content through inquiry and classroom instruction alone, students who read, write and talk about science go beyond what's presented in class.
I want my students to have the ability to read, write, think, and talk about real-world science issues.
