Time for Kids to Read Non Fiction!
My students need access to current events and non fiction reading material. Time for Kids will provide both.
I have a busy classroom of 28 fourth grade students who come to school each morning ready to learn despite language barriers and the struggles that come with living in low-income households. We are a Title I school where over 80% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of our students and families are not native English speakers and have recently moved to the United States. Nearly half of the students in our class speak a language other than English at home and qualify for English language services at school. Despite these hardships, our students are not lacking ambition but rather resources!
Reading non fiction text is a huge part of our literacy goals for fourth graders. What better way to hook students than to incorporate a monthly current events magazine into our reading block.
Magazines are a great way of hooking reluctant readers and helping kids keep up on current events, which is so important in our world today!
In our changing world and busy schedules there is little time for current events, which is so important to our students' learning.
With Time for Kids magazine we will be able to do shared readings, hold class discussions and create new and interesting lessons that will help prepare our students not only for their fourth grade examinations but for their future education careers!
Time for Kids is a great way to engage students in an interactive learning experience Your donation will help young minds learn about new and exciting things in a fun and interesting way!
