My students need 84 subscriptions to Time For Kids magazine. This will allow all third graders at my school to read and enjoy the magazine each week.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third graders are a lively and energetic bunch of kids. They are full of creativity, and love having the chance to explore their creative side through hands-on games and activities. They are always asking questions, and are so eager to learn about anything and everything!
I teach at a Title 1 school, so basic classroom resources are very limited.
Our community is ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, and I feel honored to be teaching at a school that celebrates and embraces cultural diversity. The teachers, staff, parents, and students truly make this school a special and unique place.
Despite living in one of the most wealthy regions in California, many of my students come from low-income families. They face hardships that no child should have to face, yet they come to school with a positive attitude, a smile on their face, and an enthusiasm for learning that is contagious. More than 75% of the students at my school are classified as socioeconomically disadvantaged, and more than fifty percent of my students are English Language Learners.
My Project
Third grade is a crucial year for children. Many consider it to be a transitional year. It's a time where students go from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." In third grade, students spend a lot of time learning how to read and respond to nonfiction text. By providing a current, high-interest resource such as TIME for Kids magazine, students will learn all about the world around them, while also improving their nonfiction reading skills.
TIME for Kids is a magazine that aims to "engage, empower, and inspire" kids, and that is exactly what this project will do!
In order to make a positive impact on our society, my students need to be educated and aware of what is happening in the world around them. Reading this magazine each week will ensure that my students are staying up to date with the latest current events.
TIME For Kids offers a rich selection of articles, multimedia, and other resources that are all aligned to the current third grade state standards. Students will be able to read engaging material, while still building their foundational skills in reading informational text, nonfiction writing, and language development.
Many of my students do not have books or reading materials available to read at home. This magazine subscription would provide a reading resource my students could take home weekly, and they will be able to read and share the articles with their family members.
Funding this project will help 84 students grow and improve their reading skills, and it will open their eyes to the many different ways they can positively impact the world around them.
