Many of my fourth grade students are faced with several challenges of coming from other countries and high poverty. My students come from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds. I would like my students to have creative and meaningful learning experiences in school. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics. My students work very hard to meet their goals; they are amazing and curious. They are very eager to learn new things.
My Project
TIME for Kids magazine will be very useful for the students to become aware of current events. Fourth grade students will be able to have stimulating conversations about current events that will lead to asking thought provoking questions.
In the classroom, we will work on activities in small groups for better understanding and familiarize the students with text structures.
Once the magazine is read in class, they take it home and share the information with their family. This will lead to important conversations with family members. Having TIME for Kids opens up lines of communication with others about current events. TIME for Kids magazine helps enlighten the students about many cultures of the world. This will help the students more tolerable and accepting of others. TIME for Kids magazine is a great tool for teachers to help students teach about current events and have students become better citizens to help the world they learn about.
