Help me give my students access to world events and happenings at their developmental level.

My students are inquisitive, motivated and come to school each day with a smile! I teach second grade at a Title I IB school in Alexandria, VA. Almost all of my students will qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and many face challenges outside of the school building. However, this does not stop my students from showing up each day with a smile and ready to grow their brains.
Access to high-quality learning materials and experiences allows my students to grow both personally and academically and set them up for success in the future.
My students deserve access to materials and experiences that will allow them to expand their vocabulary. They work hard everyday to reach their academic goals and show resilience in their daily lives. I'm so excited to see all of the growth my students make this school year!
Time for Kids is a news magazine that is targeted to students at specific grade levels. Regardless of the topic, Time for Kids differentiates material to ensure students can understand what is happening in the world, while remaining at their developmental level. With all that is going on in our world, our students deserve to know and develop their own ideas.
I believe that my students can be advocates for change.
Time for Kids gives my students the knowledge to back their thoughts and develop ideas for the future. As we get these magazines each month we will be able to engage in whole group and small group discussions that will help to keep students informed on what is happening in the world around them. Last year, after reading about the Wild Fires in Australia, my students created a fundraiser to donate money to support the efforts of disaster relief workers. I can only imagine what we can accomplish this year with your support!
