My Students

Fourth grade is always an adventure! We never know where our learning will take us. In our room, we're always looking for ways to meet the learning styles of kinesthetic, visual, audio, and logical learning. By the end of the school year, I want my students to see the value of learning something new.

Our class is made up of 25 kinds, creative students who are eager to learn new material.

This year, my students have really worked towards persevering through difficult tasks.

This is our favorite quote: "Be like a postage stamp, stick to something until you get there!" -Josh Billings

My Project

My students love to read! When they have a spare minute, their nose is in a book. However, most of them choose to read fiction because that is what I prominently have available in my room. I would love to have more informational texts in my classroom. TIME For Kids is a popular magazine that is full of informational articles. These high-interest informational magazines are full of academic and domain-specific vocabulary that my students need. TIME for Kids covers many topics including finical literacy, the arts, environmental education, and politics. Plus, these magazines will give them a window into unknown places like the Japanese volcano Mount Shinmoedake!

Each week, my students will receive the gift of a new magazine that will build literacy while teaching them about the world around them.

I recently read a copy and know that the high-interest stories will be the perfect addition to our room!
