My Students

I teach 5th grade to a wonderful group of students in central Illinois. My students work hard, care about each other, and love to learn! It is a very diverse group of students in almost every way imaginable, and, because of that, my students have developed an appreciation for one another's differences. They are a class who loves to read a wide range of literature and nonfiction, and they have a range of reading levels. We love to live by our class motto: "Work hard. Play hard!"

My Project

I would love to get a subscription to the classroom magazine TIME for Kids for my 5th graders! With a subscription to TIME for Kids, my students will have exposure to current events and news at their grade level. The magazine will be used in a variety of ways including during social studies and in reading groups. Each magazine supports the students with a variety of practice sheets of reading standards that go along with the magazine. Many writing assignments come out of the magazine as well, especially persuasive writing. The magazines are engaging for the students and a wonderful source for them!
