Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
27 wonderful low income, English Language Learning students need your help! We are a diverse and eclectic 6th grade class who thrives to learn about our world, current affairs and upcoming science topics. Our community is high poverty, hardworking and appreciative to those who can help.
Many of the students' families do not have the extra funds to support the purchase of the Time for Kids magazines. This magazine is one of the most favored learning tools students utilize and look forward to. In past years, students feel compelled to get involved in issues they would not normally seek out and learn important information they would not find elsewhere.
The one resource we need is a subscription to Time for Kids for 27 students for this school year. Time for Kids provides students with valuable updated information on current events, scientific discoveries, political issues and examples of student produced non-fiction writing. They thoroughly enjoy this magazine and learn so much from it!
Providing students with this opportunity allows them to learn about imperative world issues. Time for Kids does a great job of appealing to the student audience and helps English Language learners because of its use of maps, graphs, photos and other non-fiction text features. Students can read to each other and discuss/debate issues they normally do not have access to. It is a helpful and successful learning tool for my students.
TIME For Kids Magazine- World Report Edition w/ TFK Around the World (grades 4-6). Pricing is valid for orders placed after March 2008. After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts. Only valid for orders in quantities of 10 or more. Orders for less than 10 subscriptions will NOT be fulfilled.
