My Students

This year I'm working with students generally classified as BD. Often misunderstood, they're just not able to best figure out how to deal with their feelings when they're stressed or angry or upset. So my focus this year is getting things in the classroom that'll better help them address when those issues pop up.

Beyond my classroom though is just as important to me to be available for the whole school.

As such my projects are hopefully going to be those that everyone can use. I want my room to be a refuge at times if need be for students who deal with a multitude of issues outside the school.

My Project

With my group of kids this year it's all about providing breaks and keeping things moving. The old way of learning with students sitting at desks for 45-90 minutes at a time during a class period isn't reasonable...especially for students in need of emotional support. Giving them different ways to get up and move during the lessons is vital to get the most out of them during the time I have them. The balls keep them moving around and provide an alternative to the normal chairs to which they've been accustomed.

I'm looking to provide my kids a genuine flexible seating environment to further their connection to the classroom and increase buy in.
