My students are a group of diverse, hard working, intelligent children who prompt me to look forward to starting each school day. Living in a small section of a large urban district, there is a strong sense of community in our school and even greater in our classroom. My inquisitive students work together to solve problems, to guide each other, and push us all to achieve our goals.
Teaching at the elementary school that I attended, in the city in which I grew up, every day is rewarding.
Our school provides our students with not only a safe environment but also rigorous academics and emotional/behavioral support. Working in an advanced work class, my goal is to prepare my students for success in high school, college, and beyond.
My Project
I often feel that there is just not enough time in a school day. Every moment is precious and making each one count is very important to me. The use of a timer in the classroom helps me stay on track but also my students begin to learn how to manage their time. Some students have difficulties with transitions but a visual timer can help them know when to expect a transition.
Timers can help students stay on task and feel accomplished when the task is done!
But, hold on a second...we also need to believe we can. With the mindset poster pack, I want my students to see constant reminders of how they are able of doing such amazing things when they put their minds to it. Lastly, organization is an important piece to making our classroom run efficiently. These are all important tools for my students to be successful in school and beyond.
