In our integrated co-teaching class, we start off every morning with a warm hello and big smiles. We feel that it is important to instill a sense of family within our classroom to create a caring and safe environment. Many of our students carry the burden of difficult personal lives upon entering the school building. Therefore, it is even more important to create an environment where the students feel ownership, safety, and love.
The majority of our students are learning English as a new language.
Twenty-three of our children speak Chinese as their first language, two speak Spanish, and one speaks Polish. As learners of the new language, many of our students translate for their parents and grandparents at home. They carry a big responsibility of not only learning the language to advance their own academic careers, but also to help their own families. As teachers, we feel that it is our job to advocate for our hardworking and incredibly deserving students. We would love to have an opportunity to provide the materials our students need in order to succeed in school.
My Project
As educators, we feel that we are responsible for providing our students with the best opportunities and materials for their learning. We would like ink and copy paper for our printer in order for our students to bring their writing to life. We would also like other school supplies like pencils and erasers to create wonderful work and erase our mistakes. We will use the markers, crayons, and colored pencils to make our work more beautiful and bring it to life. The post-its will be used to analyze our reading and jot down notes as we dive into our books. Other supplies like envelopes, white out, and paper clips will help our classroom run smoothly.
The school supplies that we receive will assist our students in their various learning experiences.
All too often, we notice that our students run out of their own supplies, and as the end of the year approaches, our own classroom supplies are dwindling as well. It has become difficult for our students to complete their projects and assignments without these important materials. We look forward to being able to provide our students with everything they need to be successful!
